Cosmetic Tattoo Aftercare (NZ)

Whether you've had brows, lips or eyeliner done, good aftercare protects your investment and helps you heal evenly. Kat provides personalised instructions at every appointment — this guide covers the essentials.

Universal rules

Keep the treated area clean and dry for the first 24–48 hours. Avoid sun, swimming, saunas and heavy exercise during initial healing. Don't pick, scratch or apply active skincare to the area until healed.

Sun protection

UV exposure fades cosmetic tattoo pigment faster than anything else. Once healed, use SPF on brows and lips daily — even in Wellington's cloudy weather. A hat helps during outdoor activities.

When to contact Kat

Some redness and flaking is normal. Contact Kat if you see signs of infection ( increasing heat, pus, spreading redness), an allergic reaction, or if you're worried about how an area is healing.

Maintenance over time

Cosmetic tattoo typically lasts 12 to 36 months depending on the area, your skin and lifestyle. A colour refresh every 12 to 24 months keeps results looking fresh. Kat offers refresh appointments from $280.

Your perfecting session

All cosmetic tattoo treatments include a follow-up 6 to 8 weeks later. Don't skip it — this session fine-tunes your results and significantly improves how long your work lasts.
